Parents

Camp Sojourner will be held from Monday, June 28-Friday, July 2, 2010. Camp tuition is on a sliding scale from $200-$500, depending on family size and income; some scholarships are available. You can download an application: choose the Application for New Campers or the Returning Camper Application, or call the camp office to have an application mailed to you. A complete application consists of all forms in this packet, your child’s most recent report card, and a $25 application fee which will be applied to your camp tuition. Also, all registered campers must have a complete a health form, signed by a medical professional, returned to the camp office by June 1. Health forms can be downloaded here.

Girls

If you are between the ages of 8 and 14, you are invited to be part of Camp Sojourner, Girls’ Leadership Camp! Please download a camper application packet and show it to your parent or guardian, to see if being a part of Camp Sojourner may be an option for you next summer. In the meantime, please check our website for updates about other activities that you may want to get involved in.

15-17 year old girls, you can apply to work with us as Junior Counselors during Camp Sojourner 2010. Applications are currently available, please call the camp office for more information.

Service Project 2010! Please join us on Saturday, April 17 for a day of service at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.  Transportation will be provided from the camp office to the park and back, and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.  Please call the camp office or send us an email to let us know that you want to be involved (215-951-0330 x2180; info@girlsleadershipcamp.org).

Volunteers/Staff

Applications are now available for Camp Sojourner 2010. Camp dates this year for staff are from Sunday, July 27th through Friday, July 2nd. If you love young people, are committed to giving girls the opportunity to take leadership, and work well as part of a team, please consider joining us! Support camp with a donation

Support from individuals, foundations, and other organizations is what makes it possible for us to provide an affordable camp experience and leadership development for Philadelphia area girls. We charge families significantly less than what it actually costs us to provide a high quality program. Anything you can contribute will help us to make our program available to more girls.

We accept cash, checks, credit cards, supplies, equipment, and other in-kind donations. All donations are tax deductible. Contact us if you have something you think we may be able to use, such as office supplies, camping equipment, or art supplies. See below for our “Donations Wish List” .

2010 Donations Wish List

  • Fans! We ideally will be able to bring 8 oscillating fans up to camp to help cool down camper cabins overnight.
  • Art supplies- markers, crayons, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, sharpie markers (thin and thick), chart markers, scissors, yarn, needles, fabric, paper- construction paper, drawing paper, post-it chart paper
  • Bedding/toiletries- sleeping bags, sheets, blankets, pillows, pillow cases, towels, toothpaste, soap, feminine hygiene supplies
  • Camping supplies- flashlights, batteries, tents
  • Food-marshmallows, chocolate bars (thin, for making smores), individually packaged snack-sized snacks (pretzels, chips, dried fruit, granola bars, etc.), juice boxes (100% juice), graham crackers
  • Clothing- child sized jackets and long-sleeved shirts, child sized bathing suits, sneakers or other other footwear suitable for camp, socks, rain ponchos
  • Other- walkie talkies, stamps, plastic bags (large Ziploc and clear garbage bags), wood for woodshop projects, musical instruments, particularly drums and other percussion instruments, balloons, binoculars, notebooks, color copies

Consider hosting an organizational sponsorship.
Your workplace, place of worship, or other community group may be interested in supporting Philadelphia girls through the work of Girls’ Leadership Camp. Sponsorship involves raising money through the members of your organization in order to sponsor one or more girls to attend camp. A complete sponsorship kit is available.
