Sojourner Truth Walk 2014

Thanks to all who helped make our second annual Sojourner Truth Walk on April 26, 2014 a tremendous success! With more than 175 walk registrants, we raised $16,500 to support our program for Philadelphia girls. And, we spread positive images of girls and women’s leadership throughout our West Philadelphia neighborhood, while highlighting the important social justice work of several neighborhood organizations. It was a beautiful and inspiring day!

Below are images of the many facets of the day: gathering in Clark Park for registration, face painting, and sign-making; 5K walk and drumming through West Philly; crossing the finish line at the Calvary Center for Community and Culture with Play on Philly! youth orchestra; eating lunch together and enjoying the celebration afterwards, including words from State Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown, State Representative James Roebuck, teen leaders Ainye Clarke and Camille Colemean, and community organizations Media Mobilizing Project, Philly Student Union, Girls Justice League, and the Granny Peace Brigade.

Thanks to Chris Kendig Photography, Emily Zeitlyn, and Diana Coleman for taking these pictures!
